  • Tacos, Burritos, and Enchiladas: Burrito Bananas Foster | Submitted By: USA WEEKEND Pam Anderson

Get out the frying pan: Bananas Foster gets a glamorous update that plays off what I call the fried ice cream effect. Bananas, brown sugar and walnuts are folded in a flour tortilla and fried. The tortilla crisps up, and the sugar dissolves into sauce. Top the Breezy Burrito Bananas Foster with a two-minute sauce for a dessert that rivals the Big Easy original.

  • How to Make a Gingerbread House

See the complete photoset here. From the recipe archive. Making a gingerbread house is no simple task (unless of course you get one of those pre-fab houses, in which case these notes will be of little help). These houses took several gatherings, one to make the dough and the pattern pieces, one to roll out the dough and bake the pieces, one to assemble the pieces, one to decorate. The joy is really in the making, of the coming together to work on all the steps that are required to build a gingerbread house from scratch. The following are instructions I used with a gingerbread house making endeavor with my young friend Audrey. If you plan on making a gingerbread house yourself, I hope you find them useful. • Healthy Banana Bread: Recipe

In my continuing effort to eat more whole grains, I have been using King Arthur's organic white whole wheat flour. Let me just say right off the bat, this stuff is amazing! It has a milder flavor and lighter more delicate texture than traditional whole wheat flour which makes it it terrific for baking. It's milled from high protein, hard white spring flour. King Arthur Flour suggests you replace 1/3 all purpose flour with white whole wheat in your baking, but I've found in most quick breads and cookies I can replace half the all purpose flour with white whole wheat and barely notice a difference in taste or texture of the finished baked goods. I wouldn't use it for something super delicate, like a pie crust or angel food cake, but experiment for yourself.I was looking for a recipe for a cake made with fresh guava, and read that you can actually substitute guava for banana in banana bread. I've now tried this bread with guavas and with a combination of guavas and bananas, and I've t...
