In a large bowl or the work bowl of an electric mixer dissolve yeast in the milk. Add sugar and 1 cup of the flour. Mix well and let stand in a warm place about 15 minutes for the yeast to activate. Mix another 2 1/2 cups flour into the yeast mixture with the dough hook attachment until smooth. With the machine running, add 1 cup flour and knead for 6 minutes. Turn out onto a board and lightly knead in remaining 1/2 cup flour. The dough should remain rather wet to ensure a soft and light bread. Shape the dough...

Caramel Corn
Originally from Simply Recipes

The memory has faded some, but the feeling of pure joy is as strong as ever - dad coming home and pulling out from behind his back, to the raucous squeals of us kids, boxes of Cracker Jack, caramel corn that rattled when you shook the box. (Remember those commercials?) We had to have our own box you see, couldn't possibly share, because each box had a surprise gift (is that brilliant marketing or what?) and we each had to have our own gift. If you were unlucky, you got some stupid plastic thing. If you were really lucky, you got a paper tattoo transfer. Super Cookies. Regardless what you call them, kids love them. A cookie packed full of peanut butter, chocolate, and candy, it's a must have cookie for Halloween and perfect for any kid oriented event. Still, adults shouldn't miss out and personally, I'm not the biggest peanut butter fan (insert collective gasp). So while making this classic kiddy cookie, I decided to make a few tweaks for an adult version of The Monster. Studded with Heath toffee bar chips, dark chocolate, and pecans it's a very sophisticated sugar rush. Continue reading "Monster Cookies" »

**For my birthday, my flatmate very trustingly bought me a blowtorch!!! :D So from now on, all my crème brulee will have perfectly caramelised tops! Though, seen that there already are few good crème brulee recipes on OSF, I thought I will contribute a different blowtorch friendly recipe.** 1. Preheat the oven to 220 degrees. 2. Place the whole sweet red peppers on a baking tray, and use the blowtorch on the surface of the peppers. The peppers should start to blister and turn black, and carry on till all the peppers are 'burnt' all over. Place them in a large...
